As well as natural shelter on the south facing slope, several of the paddocks have field shelters, which are appreciated by the horses and ponies as much in the summer as in the winter.
All pastures can be seen from the stable yard, this gives a high degree of supervision, plus they are thoroughly checked twice a day.
The horses are turned out daily in the winter and are all allocated a large 14ft x 12ft, well ventilated and well lit stable.
The stable floors are cushioned with rubber matting and shavings or straw. There are talk grids built into the dividing walls, which allow the horses to see and chat to each other.
To encourage good respiration, and even dental wear, low-level mangers are used when feeding. |
